Tools Required: - Cordless drill - Flat bending pliers - 5/16 hex head bit - Marking pen - Silicone caulking gun - Method of locating north - Tin snips - Spirit level |
Step One - “ Identifying the correct mounting location ”
![]() |
![]() |
Select a mounting location as per image (A). Standard mounting is 3 tiles down from the apex of the roof. The intended location should receive direct sunlight. After choosing the location remove x1 tile and shift the tile above the removed tile upwards as shown in image (B). |
Step Two - “Preparing Base Flashing”
![]() |
![]() |
Fold down the front section of the base flashing and mark sections to be removed. Use tin snips to cut these sections away as needed, see image (C). Fold down both sides of base flashing as seen in image (D). |
Step Three - ”Inserting Base Flashing into tiles”
|
![]() |
Slide base flashing under the tiles directly above mounting location. The middle tile should already have been slid upwards in previous step, see image (E). Use the roof baton strap and provided screw and secure the strap to the nearest roof beam, see image (F). |
Step Three continued - ”Installing the Collar”
![]() |
|
Place the collar onto the base flashing. The collar part will slide over the base flashing, see image (G). Be sure that the collar is placed with the solar panel head assembly mounting cutouts facing upwards not downwards, see image (H). |
Step Three continued - ”Leveling the Collar”
![]() |
![]() |
Rotate the articulating collar joint & the whole collar until the top of the collar is as close to horizontally flat as possible. You will need to use a level indicating tool for this, see image (I). After this, use provided screw to lock the collar articulation in place, see image (J). |
Step Three continued - ”Securing Collar to Base Flashing”
![]() |
![]() |
Use provided x3 screws to secure the collar to the base flashing. Note, there are x3 pre-drilled holes to indicate the screw location in collar, see image (K). These screws will ensure the entire assembly is permanently secured to the roof. Complete this step by inserting x1 more screw through the collar and base flashing however this time make sure the screw ALSO pierces through the roof baton strap. Pay close attention to the diagram on next page for more details, see image (L) & (M). |
Step Three continued - ”Roof Baton Strap Detail”
![]() |
|
As mentioned in previous step, This diagram shows the correct installation of the roof baton strap. It is important to notice the positioning of the roof baton strap with regards to the collar and base flashing. Correct installation is critical to ensure the entire roof ventilator is anchored to the roof and will not dislodge in the case of high winds. |
Step Four - “Applying silicone sealant to critical seams”
It is recommended to apply silicone sealant to the x3 seams as indicated in image (N). The x3 main seams are:
1. Base flashing & roof tiles 2. Collar & base flashing 3. Articulating collar joint
|
Step Five - “Placing Solar Panel Head on Collar”
![]() |
![]() |
Gently lower the Solar panel head onto the collar, see image (O). Ensure all three mounting leg hooks are properly straddling the collar and are seated correctly in the square cut away notches. When done correctly the screws holes in the mounting leg hooks and collar will line up, see image (P). |
Step Five continued - “Locking Solar Panel Head to Collar”
![]() |
![]() |
Use x3 provided screws and insert them into the x3 pre-drilled hole locations around the top of the collar, see image (Q). The screws will sandwich the mounting leg hooks to collar. More detail can be, see in diagram (R) regarding mounting leg hook straddling collar correctly. |
Step Six - “Rotating Solar Panel Head to face north”
![]() |
|
The solar panel head now needs to be rotated to face North to maximise all day e ciency. This does require firm hand pressure as shown in Image (S). Note that the entire solar panel head will rotate independently of the collar and roof flashing which has been firmly secured to the roof in the previ-ous steps. Use a compass or phone application to find the direction of north. Once the direction of north is identified, rotate the solar panel head (only) so the arrow indicator points towards north, see image (T). Once the orientation is correct the internal iSwirl mechanism will ensure the solar panel permanently faces north. |
Functionality Testing - “ Testing the main wind turbine and internal fan are working ”
There are two main tests required to ensure the main head assembly is functioning correctly:
a) Spinning the main outer blades as seen in the below image. This is done manually by hand. The main turbine assembly should not be clashing with any other part and should spin freely.
b) Looking through the main outer turbine down the collar to observe the internal solar driven fan is spinning. It is important to note the fan will only spin in optimal sunlight conditions. Assuming sunlight is reaching the main head assembly solar panel the internal fan should be spinning.
