Australia’s Leading Dual Powered Solar and Wind Roof Ventilator

The iSwirl 300 and iSwirl 450 are a new generation roof ventilator that provide a powerful and sustainable solution for cooling your home, shed, factory, warehouse, school or any other free standing structure. For those that are seeking to reduce their energy bills, stay cool, and promote a healthy indoor environment the iSwirl is the perfect solution.

By harnessing the power of the sun and wind, it provides a sustainable solution, as it uses the natural flow of air to cool your home or any indoor area. It works by circulating hot air out of the roof cavity and drawing cooler air in, creating a continuous cycle of ventilation.

Solar panels power a brushless motor that enables it to operate without electricity. They use photovoltaic cells to convert sunlight into electricity, which powers the fan that pushes hot air out of the roof.

The iSwirl 300mm is up to 30 times more effective than a standard 300mm whirlybird, and the iSwirl 450mm is up to 34 times more efficient than a standard 450mm wind ventilator especially under low wind conditions.

In the quest for energy-efficient and comfortable living, homeowners, warehouses and factories are increasingly exploring innovative solutions to combat rising temperatures. While air conditioning remains a staple for many, it can be energy-intensive and contribute to higher utility bills.

The iSwirl Roof Ventilator is the world's first hybrid solar and wind roof ventilator. It provides a natural, cost-effective way to keep your house or any other structure cool, reducing your energy bills and carbon footprint and aligns with sustainable living.

The iSwirl 300 Residential has been selected as an ABA100® Winner for Eco Innovation in The Australian Brand Awards 2024. The Australian Brand Award for Eco Innovation [ECO] recognises environmentally conscious products that offer point of difference from their competitors.

  • Innovative Design

The iSwirl is a unique dual powered roof ventilator that independently uses wind and a solar powered fan to maximise airflow extraction.

  • Maximum Performance

The iSwirl combination of Wind and Solar in one complete unit reduces the heat in summer and in residential structures ensures the roof cavity is free of mould and mildew in winter.

  • Ultimate Efficiency

The iSwirl 300 residential has a unique design that enables it to extract air at up to 30 times more effectively than a standard whirlybird* . The iSwirl 450 commercial is up to 34 time more efficient than an equivalent 450mm wind-only powered vent, especially in low wind.

  • Australian Patented

The iSwirl is the only combined solar and wind powered roof ventilator on the market and is patent protected in Australia and Internationally.

  • Award Winning Recognition

The iSwirl 300 residential has been recognised as an ABA100 Winner for Eco Innovation in The Australian Brand Awards 2024 that offers a point of difference from its competitors.

  • Tile and Metal Roof Compatible

The iSwirl 300 Roof Ventilator is suitable on both tile and metal roofs. It also includes a variable pitch base and roof flashing. The iSwirl 450 Roof Ventilator is suitable for Industrial and Commercial Metal roofs.

How does the iSwirl work?

The iSwirl sets a new benchmark in energy-efficient roof ventilation

The iSwirl roof ventilator works by harnessing the natural flow of air to ventilate and cool your home or any other indoor structure. Designed to extract trapped heat and moisture efficiently, iSwirl boosts airflow and helps regulate the indoor temperature.

1. Air Intake

In any home or indoor structure, hot air rises and accumulates in the ceiling or moves towards the higher part of the structure. This heats the indoor area. The iSwirl creates a super efficient chimney effect for the hot air to escape.

2. Heat Exchange

As the hot air that moves into the ceiling/top area of the structure it is “pushed” or “expelled” out of the roof by the iSwirl, a through draft is created. The hot air is replaced by cooler air that replaces the hot air.

3. Ventilation

Cooler air is circulated through the indoor area and roof cavity, providing and maintaining a comfortable and healthy environment.

  • Hot, moist and damp air sits in the roof cavity space.
  • A solar panel on the top of the unit powers a motor that is attached to a fan blade below the wind vanes. During sunlight conditions this creates significant upward force for hot and moist air to escape the roof cavity/indoor structure. On hot still days the ventilator is especially useful.
  • During windy conditions the wind vanes rotate causing negative air pressure in the iSwirl. This pressure creates an efficient escape mechanism for hot and moist air to be expelled.
  • The rotating fan and the vanes combine to create maximum upward pressure to extract hot and moist air from the roof.
  • Cool and fresh air replaces the hot, moist and stale air.
  • The indoor space is cooled due to the removal of the hot air which is replaced with cooler fresh air.

RETRO-FIT AN ISWIRL VENTILATOR TO YOUR EXISTING WHIRLYBIRD

If you have an existing roof ventilator with a throat that is 306mm
(standard whirlybird), you can simply remove the top of your existing whirlybird
from the throat and attach the iSwirl to the throat.

We offer Roof Ventilation Solutions for both Residential and Commercial Properties
