Tools Required:
-    Cordless drill
-    Flat bending pliers
-    Multigrips
-    5/16 hex head bit
-    Marking pen
-    Silicone caulking gun
-    Method of locating north
-    Tin snips
-    Spirit level
-    Appropriate roofing screws

Step One - “ Identifying the correct mounting location ”

The base flashing will need to be placed towards the top of the roof as seen in image (A). Place the base on the roof allowing a minimum of 80mm of flashing to fit under the ridge capping. Use the 300mm hole in the base flashing as a guide to mark out the hole to be cut in the metal roof. Use tin snips to carefully cut out the marked circle in the roof sheet as seen in image (B & C). If present, the insulation layer will need to be removed as well.

Step Two - “Creating water barrier”

Use multigrips or bending pliers to turn up the valleys of the roof sheets around the hole. Turning up these sections will ensure water does not run into the roof during heavy rain. Remove the screws from the ridge capping and cut any down turn from the ridge capping to allow the base flashing to slide under the ridge capping. See images (D & E) for more detail.

Step Three - ”Preparing Base Flashing”

Using folding pliers turn down the sides and the bottom of the base flashing to suit the roof profile as seen in image (F). Then scribe and cut the down turned bottom edge to fit the roof sheet profile as seen in image(G).

Step Four - “Base Flashing final preparation and mounting”

Fit the base flashing in position under the ridge capping, with the minimum 80mm ridge overhang, as seen in image (H). Refit any screws to the ridge capping. Fix the base flashing to the roof with appropriate roofing screws. See image (H).

Step Four continued - “ Installing & leveling the Collar”

Place the collar onto the base flashing. The collar part will slide over the base flashing. Be sure that the collar is placed with the solar panel head assembly mounting cutouts facing upwards not downwards, see image (I). Rotate the articulating collar joint & the whole collar until the top of the collar is as close to horizontally flat as possible. You will need to use a level indicating tool for this, see image (J).

Step Four continued - “ Installing & leveling the Collar”

Use provided screw to lock the collar articulation in place see image (K). Use further provided x3 screws to secure the collar to the base flashing. Note, there are x3 pre-drilled holes to indicate screw location in collar, see image (L). These screws will ensure the entire assembly is permanently secured to the roof.

Step Five - “ Applying silicone sealant to critical seams ”

It is recommended to apply silicone sealant to the x3 seams as indicated in image (M).

The x3 main seams are:
1. Base flashing & roof LHS & RHS
2. Collar & base flashing
3. Articulating collar joint

Step Six - “ Placing Solar Panel Head on Collar ”

Gently lower the Solar panel head onto the collar. Ensure all three mounting leg hooks are properly straddling the collar and are seated correctly in the square cut away notches.
When done correctly the screws holes in the mounting leg hooks and collar will line up, see image (O & P) for more details.

Step Six continued- “ Placing Solar Panel Head on Collar ”

Use x3 provided screws and insert them into the x3 pre-drilled hole locations around the top of the collar, see image (Q). Fasten screws once correctly inserted. The screws will sandwich the mounting leg hooks to the collar. More detail can be see in diagram (P / previous step) showing the mounting leg hook correctly straddling the collar.

Step Seven - “ Rotating Solar Panel Head to face north ”

The solar panel head now needs to be rotated to face North to maximise all day eiciency. This does require firm hand pressure as shown in Image (R). Note that the entire solar panel head will rotate independently of the collar and roof flashing which has been firmly secured to the roof in the previous steps. Use a compass or phone application to find the direction of north. Once the direction of north is identified, rotate the solar panel head (only) so the arrow indicator points towards north, see image (S). Once the orientation is correct the internal iSwirl mechanism will ensure the solar panel permanently faces north.

Functionality Testing - “ Testing the main wind turbine and internal fan are working ”

There are two main tests required to ensure the main head assembly is functioning correctly:

a)    Spinning the main outer blades as seen in the below image. This is done manually by hand. The main turbine assembly should not be clashing with any other part and should spin freely.

b)    Looking through the main outer turbine down the collar to observe the internal solar driven fan is spinning. It is important to note the fan will only spin in optimal sunlight conditions. Assuming sunlight is reaching the main head assembly solar panel the internal fan should be spinning.
